The officers present were Lacy Sparks (Past President), Christine Denniston (President), Annemarie Wilson (Vice President), and Bernadine Faulkner (Secretary). The minutes from the last soft court meeting of August 25, 2009 were approved. Christine Denniston gave the Treasurer’s Report. She included a financial update as well as the division winners and runners up from fall 2009. At the next meeting it is proposed that we discuss whether to include bag tags as part of the winner’s prizes. She reminded each club to please take their prizes for teams who placed first or second in their division from fall 2009. Annemarie Wilson, Vice President, announced that the schedules are final and available on the website. We have 128 teams this spring playing Women’s Soft Court. Christine Denniston discussed consecutive team wins as well as individual stat winners from fall 2009. There were two items of new business that were discussed and voted. The first item was regarding the rule in our rulebook under the heading “Players and Substitutes”, item 2-c. The vote was approved to strike the following line from this section, “All players with a 4.5 NTRP (USTA) rating will be allowed to play at the 5.3 soft court level only.” This update was prompted by the recent realignment of the USTA ratings and will take effect immediately. The second item of new business was the discussion of the current tiebreak format. It was proposed and passed that Soft Court will adopt the Coman format for playing a tiebreak. This new tiebreak format will go into effect in the fall 2010. A full explanation of this format will be posted in the new rulebook that will be printed prior to the fall season 2010. The meeting was adjourned at 11:00 am. Respectfully submitted, Bernadine Faulkner |
